Amigos del Huila: San Agustín & La Argentina
Amigos del Huila comes from the highlands of San Agustín and La Argentina, Colombia, and features the work of four smallholder producers: Edilma Quinayas, Miller Quinayas, Hugo Melo, and Willington Ultengo. This sub-regional blend is built from individual microlots, with each producer contributing coffee processed with great care and ecological awareness.
Exporter Shared Source has longstanding relationships with these growers, offering pre-harvest loans to support farm labor and investing in equipment and organic practice development. The Quinayas family, familiar contributors to Amigos del Huila over the years, have continued to refine their approach through improved picking, fermentation control, and dedicated drying infrastructure. Willington Ultengo, a leader in La Argentina’s ASOPROCAR association, brings a strong focus on soil health and environmental stewardship to his farm.
Processing methods vary slightly by producer but follow the same intentional care, ripe cherry selection, controlled fermentation, and slow, shaded drying over 2–3 weeks to preserve flavor clarity and stability. The result is a coffee with structured sweetness, great body, and a clear sense of regional character.
